Instead of covering the entire tooth like crowns do, a veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that usually only covers the front area of your teeth. Similar to crowns, veneers can be used to close spaces in between teeth, elongate short teeth, repair chipped or worn areas, and permanently whiten stained or discolored teeth.
Veneers take away less healthy tooth structure than crowns do, since they only go on the front of a tooth as opposed to crowns that cover the entire tooth.
